‘Caring is what they need first:’ Lauren Byrd, Harford’s teacher of the year, is immersed in her school community

Hickory Elementary School first-grade teacher Lauren Byrd said she was “still in shock” days after learning she was named Harford County’s 2021 Teacher of the Year in a surprise announcement. “I feel like this year, this is an honor that all teachers deserve,” she said.
